How to Start a Crafting Blog
Don’t be afraid to start. Or do, whatever gets you going. The most important thing is to Do The Thing. I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to start writing about the things I make and want to make, and now is not that time. But I’ve come to realize that there will never be a “perfect time.” There will always be a better time, one that is in the future. It might be tomorrow, or it might be next week or next month. And then those days roll around, and the best time is still going to be eh… next month maybe. I told myself I have to start this, even if it’s shit. And it will be, I know that. But, with practice comes perfection - or as close as one can get. So every Thursday, there’s going to be a new post here. I don’t expect anyone to be reading it, at first, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t put anything out there. There are so many crafts that I like to do: crochet (blankets, scarves, gloves, hats, amigurumi), sewing (garments, costumes, quilts, bags), and that I want to get into: cross stitch, knitting (maybe I can figure that out one day), modeling clay (like, dnd minis or other little clay things? not clay like a spinning wheel/pottery), and other small niche crafts. For example, I made all of the flowers for my wedding and discovered a whole world of ribbon and fabric flower making. Let’s just say I’ve had my fill of that for a little while though :) And then there’s the digital crafts: writing, both fiction and nonfiction. Editing, both text and video. I would love to learn the whole Adobe suite of programs, and maybe I will pick up a few here and there. Do you see how hard it is to pick just one or two things? I want to do them all! And you know what? There’s no reason I shouldn’t at least try them all. So here’s my advice: Do what you want to do. Even if you’re not sure what it is that you want to do - because once you get the momentum going, you can adjust course accordingly. That’s my plan. Follow along if you want to find out where it leads!
